On the occasion of Moab Easter Jeep, an event dedicated to off-roading which will take place from March 27 to April 4 in Utah, in the United States, the famous eponymous American brand will make the trip with seven showcars, with the aim of to promote new Jeep Performance Parts (JPP) spare parts. Let's take a look at the most electrified of these demonstration vehicles, the 100% electric Jeep Wrangler Magneto.



The Moab Easter Jeep brings many off-road driving enthusiasts to the tracks of Moab, Utah, North America every year. This giant Easter safari mainly brings together Jeep owners and enthusiasts, an ideal opportunity for the American manufacturer to promote its new catalog of JPP spare parts to the main interested parties. To maximize public interest, Jeep has developed seven unique models in partnership with JPP teams.

These vehicles are all equipped with parts dedicated to off-road performance, fully optimized to fit perfectly on the Wrangler or other models of the brand. This is how we were able to discover the Jeep Wrangler Magneto, the first successful prototype of a battery-powered electric vehicle from the American manufacturer. A model that represents a new milestone of “Road Ahead”, drawing the objectives of the brand that aims to become the greenest SUV brand.
The Jeep Wrangler Magneto concept was developed as an off-roader at the same level as the firm's thermal models. Based on a two-door Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, this vehicle uses an axial-flow electric motor linked to a six-speed manual transmission, creating a manual-electric powertrain with a clutch that operates as it would an internal combustion engine. . This is a great first in the world of electric cars, allowing you to rediscover the sensations of a heat engine in zero emission mode.

Comparable to the V6 3.6 Pentastar house, the electric motor of the Jeep Magneto develops 285 hp and a torque of 370 Nm. The variation of the power and the torque according to the speed of the electric motor rotating up to 6,000 rpm gives the impression of driving a vehicle equipped with this engine, but much quieter. The 0 to 100 km / h is shot in 6.8 seconds by this unprecedented electric all-terrain. Jeep does not mention the autonomy of this very particular Wrangler but has managed to integrate no less than four battery packs totaling 70 kWh, protected by specific protective plates at the level of the bases.

The body of the Jeep Magneto is faithful to that of the thermal Wrangler, the electric motor is evoked by the gloss white color accompanied by Surf Blue accents, a color that is found throughout the body inside. The concept car is equipped with a performance hood with a center air intake and custom decals. Additional LED lighting appears in the front grille, the Jeep Wrangler led headlights are not stock lights yet, while the rear door has been redesigned. The cabin is completed with custom royal blue and black leather seats with sapphire colored inserts.

The Jeep Magneto is also equipped with a 5 cm (2 inch) riser accompanied by 17-inch black “Lights Out” alloy wheels shod with 35-inch all-terrain tires. The custom roll bar, Mopar Rock rails, steel bumpers with Warn winch and reinforced windshield perfectly complement the styling of this attractive showcar. Despite its passenger compartment fully open to the outside, the Magneto has a 10 kW high-voltage heater that blows hot air on the occupants if the ambient temperature drops.
