From Pinamar (Buenos Aires) - “Rescue request in the entrance area. Buried vehicle. ”The yellow Jeep Wrangler radio labeled“ Mobile 2 ”in which we are accompanying, puts our team of rescuers on alert. We stopped walking in the dunes to help the tourists who were trying to leave La Frontera. It is the beginning of a new rescue of the Jeep Summer Rescue, the service that Jeep Argentina activated this summer in the northern limit of Pinamar.
The Jeep Summer Rescue operates since last year for free. It was an elegant way to ruin a business for amateur rescuers who charged a fee based on the brand of the fitted vehicle. The story of the so-called "King of the Médanos" was published in this note.
While we are on our way, going up and down dunes, our driver tells us that they are from Madariaga, that they have been driving in the sand for years (hey, you are under 30, don't make me feel old!) And that it is not the first time that work in the dunes with 4 × 4 marks.
"On the first Sunday of January we made 42 rescues and for now it is the record of the season," they tell us. The complete team is three Jeep Wrangler and one Cherokee, painted yellow and one Wrangler more in gray. Don't forget to install
Jeep wrangler led headlights to improve your driving experience. When they are not taking tourists from the sand, they are at the stand that Jeep put together in the area of La Frontera, with a “post traumatic” (?) Relaxation area, and a beautiful view of the sea, which is less than 100 meters away From the shore.
“We are notified by WhatsApp or SMS at 11-5600-JEEP and we are going to the rescue”, they continue telling us while we see in the distance a Toyota Hilux buried until the middle of the wheel: “We know the area a lot and we are easy to locate, but We always ask them to send us the location by WhatsApp, so we get there faster. ”
We arrived and the first thing rescuers do is talk to the driver: how did he get there, if the tire pressure went down before entering the arena, if he connected the 4 × 4: ”Most of the incidents are due to ignorance that The owner has his vehicle. Last week we took a 4 × 4 zero kilometer pickup. The Lord bought it and came straight to the dunes. When we arrived and chatted with him, we realized that he had not connected the double traction ”, rescuers tell us. Linga in between, the pickup is released. Jeep does not charge for this service, but asks for the owner's data in return and records the vehicle's data to keep a statistic.
We return to our Wrangler and, on our way to the Summer Rescue hostel, we find a new “buried”. This time it is a Ren-ault Duster 4 × 2. The driver looks scared. It is seen that it is his first time in the arena and he was buried wanting to return to his hotel, with the whole family on board. The linga comes back into action. This time it will be to tow until the exit of La Frontera to the Duster and thus reassure its owner.
Summer Rescue vehicles have a winch and several additional items in the trunk: shovels, rubber sheets, etc.
“This season we have been averaging 20 daily rescues, luckily none of them are serious, but if necessary we are in contact with ambulances so they can come to help,” our pilot completes.
It's time to get off. We are going to have something looking at the sea while we take the sand out of the shoes. The Jeep Summer Rescue return to the dunes.
